Concrete poetry
by the sea

Hidden in the beaches of Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Casa Carla is the perfect place to let go. A small taste of paradise on Mexico's Pacific coast, it sits surrounded by nature and breathtaking light blue waters — where the architecture is awe-inspiring and the service impeccable, ensuring that every stay is unforgettable.

Designed by Bosco Sodi — founder of Fundación Casa Wabi — and decorated by the prestigious interior firm Década Muebles, Casa Carla creates a peaceful environment that interacts with its surrounding beauty. Built from a combination of warm bricks baked by the sun and cool concrete underfoot, two distinct structures blend inside and outside living seamlessly — a covered terrace opening onto a pool, which in turn opens directly onto the beachfront.

Interiors are filled with sculptural wooden furnishings — including a dining table carved from an ancient hollowed tree trunk — alongside a green-tiled kitchen floor and accents of azure-blue textiles. Four bedrooms, each perfectly designed for the needs of discerning guests, accommodate up to 14 people across 527 square metres of considered, nature-inspired space.

The Casa Carla Experience

Architecture and nature
in conversation

Terrace, Pool & Beach

The defining spatial sequence of Casa Carla — a covered terrace that opens onto a pool, which in turn opens directly onto the beachfront. Inside, outside, and ocean blur into one seamless experience.

Brutalist Architecture

Two distinct structures of warm sun-baked brick and cool poured concrete create an architecture that is both bold and deeply at home in its landscape — designed to have a direct relationship with the natural world around it.

Sculptural Interiors

Interiors curated by Década Muebles — a dining table carved from an ancient hollowed tree trunk, wicker furnishings, a vibrant green-tiled kitchen floor, and azure-blue textiles that echo the Pacific beyond the terrace.

Impeccable Service

The service at Casa Carla is impeccable — ensuring that every stay is unforgettable. Housekeeping, a fully equipped kitchen, and additional services available on request allow guests to arrive, let go, and leave the rest to those who know the house best.

Nature & Bioluminescence

Mangrove forests and wildlife at Laguna de Manialtepec, sea turtle sanctuaries at Ventanilla just along the coast, and the extraordinary phenomenon of bioluminescent tides at night — where the Pacific itself seems to glow beneath the surface.

Zicatela & Puerto Escondido

One of the world's top ten surfing destinations lies just down the coast — alongside a picturesque bay of rock formations, seafood restaurants fresh from the Pacific, and a coastal town that comes alive with legendary energy after dark.
